Spaces and support for learning to continue

Ronald McDonald House Learning Program

Family stays supported with tutoring to keep learning on track.

When a child is unwell, school can quickly fall away. Lessons are missed, routines disappear, and confidence can fade.

For families and kids already carrying so much, this can be another heavy worry. The Ronald McDonald House Learning Program helps children reconnect to learning and a sense of normal life. Families can focus on their child’s care, knowing learning will be supported.

Tailored to students’ individual needs, the Ronald McDonald House Learning Program provides a suite of educational support services, including therapy sessions and one-on-one tutoring. Experienced teachers help kids catch up on missed education and build self-esteem, making the return to the classroom easier.

All services are at no cost to families, thanks to funding from our generous supporters.

Tutor with us

Tutors play a crucial role in supporting ill or injured children in their education journey. Teachers are paid hourly to tutor students in their school or community, with students receiving up to 40 hours of tutoring, usually conducted for an hour each week over four school terms.

In-house Learning Centre

Childhood illness or injury impacts every area of a family’s life.

For families staying at our Westmead House, our on-site Learning Centre is a safe haven for ill or injured children and their siblings to just be kids. Our trained educators run daily programs during term time and plan special clinics and activities during the school holidays.

These programs are invaluable to both parents and children, providing distraction from the trauma of childhood illness,  peer connection, and learning through play and fun.
