Baking a Difference

Give care and the warmth of home baking.

Bring comfort through baking

Baking a Difference is a heart-warming group volunteering experience at Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney Westmead, perfect for team-building, community groups, or anyone looking to lift spirits through something simple and meaningful.

You’ll spend time in our commercial kitchen baking fresh, sweet and savoury treats for families. After long days at the hospital, families return to the House to be greeted by the familiar smells of home baking – an instant source of comfort, calm, and care.

Those small moments matter more than you might imagine.

What Baking a Difference means to families

When families are juggling hospital appointments, treatments, and long hours at their child’s bedside, mealtimes often fall to the bottom of the priority list.

By baking for families, you offer more than a quick bite. The warmth and aroma behind home-baked food provide a sense of normality and a bit of joy during an otherwise overwhelming time.

It’s one less thing for families to worry about, and one more way they feel supported.

Our meal programs are only possible because of the generosity of community and corporate groups. Your involvement directly helps us provide comfort, care, and practical relief to families during one of the most challenging times in their lives.

The booking fee is a tax-deductible donation that helps us reach our goal of increasing meal services by 70%. This growth will allow us to provide at least one nutritious meal per day, not only to families staying at the House, but across the wider Westmead Health Precinct.
