An essential service for families with sick and injured kids
We believe that “home” is more than just four walls and a roof over your head.
Each year Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney Westmead provides all the comforts of home, plus the compassion of staff, volunteers, and our community of supporters, to more than 1,600 families.
When the best medical treatment for a child is far from home, families don’t have to worry about where to stay. Our 60-room House enables families to stay together, enjoy home-cooked meals and receive support from staff and volunteers – making
their journey a little easier.
It’s peace of mind, knowing that their child’s medical team and life-saving treatment at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is only a two-minute walk away. Families don’t have to worry about where to stay or how they’re going to pay for accommodation.
The House provides families with a place to stay together, a place to stay strong, a place to stay cared for, and a place to stay connected.
Families have access to private rooms, shared kitchens, laundry and meals, office spaces, play areas, education services, communal spaces, and life-changing comfort when they’re far from home.
With the help of our partners and donors, we become their home away from home and support network, for as long as needed. For some families, it’s an overnight stay for routine tests; for others, it’s a prolonged stay while their child undergoes intensive treatment and everything in between.
Our 60 rooms are a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom spaces with self-contained options to accommodate different family sizes and needs.
With fun-based learning programs developed by our educators, sick kids and their siblings can leave the worries of childhood illness at the door and be kids.
Our terrace has a playground and outdoor seating while our oval is perfect for picnics and sport. Indoors, adult guests can use our in-house gym.
The House is designed to face away from the hospital, with several comfortable, spacious, light-filled areas where families can socialise or rest.
We have a large dining area that seats 250 people, where families can enjoy meals prepared by group volunteers, plus six ground floor family kitchens.
Our friendly front desk team includes volunteers and guest relation officers ready to assist families day and night, seven days a week.
